Communication Skills for Non Clinical Staff CANCELLED

It is sometimes very difficult to know what to say when faced with distressed or upset patients and relatives. This full day course aims to enable non clinical front facing staff eg receptionists, ward clerks, medical secretaries to develop the communication skills required to effectively manage such difficult conversations at work. The day will address the impact of bad news on individuals and its effects on communication; types of behaviours which help and hinder effective communication and the importance of self care. It will also offer useful strategies for communicating effectively with people who are distressed or angry. It will be delivered by the NI Hospice.
