Understanding Islam

Members of the Muslim community make up 0.2% of the Northern Ireland population but experience a disproportionate amount of prejudice. Media portrayal of the Islamic faith is often set only in the context of global unrest. This workshop describes how Islam is both a religion and a peaceful way of life, to allow people from a diverse society to understand the meaning of Islam and Muslims and to dispel common myths and misconceptions. This is being run in partnership with our Black & Migrant Workers group and is open to all.
