Palliative Care Emergencies

This half day session will have particular relevance to nurse and student nurse members.  The workshop focuses not only situations that are imminently life threatening, but also on those that could result in impaired quality of life for the remainder of the person’s life.

The assessment and management of malignant spinal cord compression, superior vena cava obstruction, hypercalcaemia, neutropaenic sepsis, haemorrhage, seizures and pathological fractures will be included.  A person centred approach will be adopted.  It will be delivered by the NI Hospice.
