Mentoring New Reps
Becoming a new union activist can be quite daunting, so if we are to keep and develop these potential reps or branch officers then we need to support them. One mechanism which branches can embed is a culture of mentoring. This one day workshop will introduce participants to develop an understanding of what is mentoring, how it fits into branch development plans as well as some of key skills and knowledge to become mentor.
Please note this course was originally scheduled for Sept 24.

Bullying in a work environment can cause tremendous emotional distress as well as severely impact on people’s capacity to carry out their role. Employers have a duty of care to employees and there are a number of remedies you can pursue if you believe you are being bullied. For managers it is important to ensure that staff are enabled to work in a supportive environment which maximises their ability to contribute. Sometimes there is a blurred line between performance management and a belief by the staff member that they are being bullied. This course will explore the employer’s duty of care, what constitutes bullying, what remedies are available to someone who is experiencing it and how managers can respond pro-actively.
Bargaining and Equality
This workshop is being run as part of LGBT Awareness Week and is open to all. It will give participants an understanding of definitions, gender identity v sexual orientation, societal attitudes, pronouns, legal obligations for employers and service providers as well as look at how to support someone transitioning in school or in a workplace. It will also outline current pathways and services to signpost appropriately.
