IV Administration of Medicines

The Intravenous administration of medicines by the Registered Nurse has been an important development in facilitating timely pharmacotherapy. As with the administration of all medicines, the need for the administration of intravenous medication must be safe, effective and appropriate.

This tutorial delivers the major theoretical components relating to the Intravenous Administration of Medicines which also concludes with a Medicines Calculation Test

PLEASE NOTE: The completion of this tutorial does NOT provide the participant with the competency to undertake the IV Administration of Medicines in ANY clinical facility.

Competency with respect to the practical component of this skill MUST be determined by the HCP’s employer, normally following the supervised completion of a determined number of Medicines Intravenously under supervision as per Clinical facility IV Medicines Administration policy
