Bereavement – Good Grief: Loss, Grief & Bereavement – Monday 15^th June – 10.30am

This interactive session is for nurses, care workers, home care, allied health professionals, social workers and students working in a variety of care settings. The aim of this study day is to provide participants with an awareness of loss, grief and bereavement exploring the changing face of bereavement; how we respond to loss. It is not suitable for those who have recently been bereaved. It will consider Principles and philosophy of palliative and end of life care; Historical perspective of death and dying and the way in which this influences current practice; Theories underpinning loss, grief and bereavement; Caring for Bereaved People: Understanding bereavement and loss and how to respond appropriately; Listening & Effective Communication Skills; Spiritual Issues in Bereavement; Caring for ourselves.

It will be delivered by NI Hospice.
